By making bold moves, Pulse works with key partners to ensure sufficient resources are available for equitable access to quality early childhood experiences, create and improve learning environments, and promote the healthy development of children.
Our History
Previously known as BC Pulse, Pulse at the W.E. Upjohn Institute was launched in 2012 to support systems change in Battle Creek. Co-Executive Directors Kathy Szenda Wilson and Maria Ortiz Borden use data and behavior change frameworks to make positive changes that benefit the early childhood ecosystem. They bring the community together with the foundational belief that when children thrive, the entire community benefits. Pulse’s work is made possible by a grant and support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
